Digi frames come in different sizes, ppi, and ratios and all of it can be very confusing. You can measure your digi frame screen and scrapbook layouts for that size. You can scrapbook according to the ppi size, except I must confess, my 7 inch frame, with the 480x234 ppi, really is a 480x270 when looking at the ratio and actually screen measuring.

So do we scrapbook layouts just for our digi frames? I guess if we had all the time in the world that would be great. But digi scrapbooking is all about saving time, so let's look at ways we can digi frame scrapbook, and still scrapbook for the 12x12 layouts we are used to. (You can adjust this to 10x10 or what ever size layouts you prefer once we are done. But for now we are looking at 12x12 layouts.)

Before we can get to your 12x12 layout, we need to figure out what size your frame is going to work out best with. The conclusion I have come to is the ratio size that your frame says. Mine is a 16:9 ratio which converts to a 12x6.75 layout. The other common ratio is 4:3 which converts to 12x9 layout. Since I only have one frame, I can't guarantee this will work with all of the frames, but from what I have read it really should.

So with this information we can do one of two things.

1. Scrapbook layouts at this size for our digi frames. Then add an extra background when we are ready to print them for our 12x12 albums. (Actually, if you keep your bottom layer full size 12x12 paper, even though the canvas is only 12x9 or 12x6.75, when you resize the canvas later, that background paper should be the right size for your 12x12 albums.)

2. Crop down our 12x12 layouts to fit the frames.

or both, which is what I plan on doing.

When cropping down, the best thing that I have found to do is to create a template for the new size, then drag the template over my 12x12 layout to see where I need to crop. Then if I need to move something in my layout to fit in the frame I can easily see where to do that. Or, you can also change the size of your canvas, then move things around in your layout that way.

This was a very brief, straight to the point recap of what I was going to have in my crop Saturday. Please post your questions and I will try to answer them. I will also keep you updated here on when I will have my next crop.

And the crop script from Saturday is posted here (http://digitalscrapbookpages.com/forum/showthread.php?t=5612).
