"Wishes and Rainbows” is an organization dedicated to assisting people affected by the neurological disorders Arnold-Chiari Malformation (ACM) and Syringomyelia.

I was diagnosed with ACM almost three years ago and have had two brain surgeries (so far) to try and help relieve my symptoms. This is the first kit I have created since the surgeries, so I've decided to donate any proceeds from its sale to "Wishes and Rainbows"!

If you would like to talk to me about ACM, or Digital Scrapbooking, (or both) I would love to hear from you! My email address is cmschultz@new.rr.com.

Here is some information about Chiari Malformation and Syringomyelia:
Arnold-Chiari (kee-ar-ee) Malformation is a congenital abnormality of the posterior fossa (base of brain where the spinal column joins the skull). This causes a protrusion of the cerebellum through the bottom of the skull (foramen magnum) into the spinal canal. This results in a poor circulation of cerebrospinal fluid from the brain to the spinal cord. It may also cause a fluid filled cavity to form in the spinal column which is known as Syringomyelia.

Usually symptoms of Chiari malformations do not appear until early adulthood but can occasionally be seen in young children. Some common symptoms include headaches, neck pain, dizziness, vision problems, balance problems and muscle weakness. Other symptoms can include difficulty swallowing and sleep apnea.

Surgery to enlarge the opening of the posterior fossa of the skull is often recommended for patients. A successful surgery may result in an improvement of symptoms.
