Welcome to the inaugural month of the Lasting Legacy Challenge! Katey Green, Diana Burton, and I will be your guides as we document your heritage and family history. Each month, one of us will focus on a different aspect of heritage scrapping. Pull up your genealogy, your old photos, and prepare to meet your ancestors!

In the USA this month, we are celebrating our independence. I thought it would be a good month to explore family members who served our various countries in the military. If you don't have photos, don't worry. This is all about documenting your history--with or without photos. This month, introduce us (and your descendants) to an ancestor of yours who served in the military.

I chose my Maternal Great Grandfather who was in the US Civil War.
He died 90 years ago today.

My apologies - I have got to quit working on scrapbook pages at 2am - My fingers just automatically typed the 1900s when most of the dates were in the 1800s. I learned something new tho - you can correct it and reload the photo and the info!

I don't really have any ancestors that I know who have served in the armed forces other than my dad. I have scrapped about him before. My good friend Maha attended the promotion of her brother this week and I thought I would honor him by scrapping their family there.

I did a double page for this challenge this month. Have really enjoyed all of the wonderful memory and honor pages that have been created. I've been wanting to do something with these photos of my Uncle Albert and this is just the perfect challenge to do it. Some of the photos are postcards, but I'm sure that others are ones that he or his buddies took while they were stationed there.
